The Heart of Mimi Crafts: A Journey of Human Revolution
Roots and Rituals
My story begins in a small village near Warangal, as the third son of a farmer’s family. My greatest inspiration was my mother, Mimi. During festivals, I stayed by her side, learning the sacred art of Muggu . As we traced intricate patterns on the earth together, she unknowingly taught me my first lessons in design, symmetry, and the beauty of Indian tradition. Farming along with my father made me connect to mother Earth , that’s how my favorite color became brown.
The Leap of Faith
Following a calling that few in my village understood at the time, I moved to the capital to study Fashion Design in Delhi. In those early days, I was often misunderstood; many saw my passion as mere “tailoring.” The cultural gap between my rural roots and the city’s pace was vast, and I often found myself at a low point.
However, it was in Delhi that I discovered my Buddhist practice. Two principles became my anchor: “Standing Alone” and “Looking Inside.” This philosophy of Human Revolution—the idea that our inner transformation can change our environment—gave me the courage to embrace my village heritage as my greatest creative asset. My designs, rooted in the traditions of my home, began to inspire everyone around me.
The Master’s Path
Before founding my own studio, I honed my skills at one of India’s top seven export houses. There, I mastered the technical complexities of textiles and antique furniture design. This period was my “Gurukul,” teaching me the discipline of global quality and the reverence required to work with raw, natural materials.
The Birth of Mimi Crafts
After my journey through the halls of high fashion and global exports, I returned to my roots to start Mimi Crafts. Named in honor of my mother, this brand is the realization of my life’s work across four traditional arts: Bandhani (Tie & Dye), Hand Block Printing, Batik, and Screen Printing.
Our Philosophy: Peace in Every Thread
At Mimi Crafts, we work exclusively with cotton and natural fibers. Because every piece is completely handcrafted, it carries a human energy that machines cannot replicate. We believe that when you wear or display our art, you should feel a “soothing effect”—a sense of peace at heart that comes from the natural world and the meditative process of the artisan.
Mimi Crafts is not just a brand; it is a tribute to a mother’s love and a testament to the belief that through art, we can all achieve our own Human Revolution.
